We spend a lot of time talking about why parents should choose St. Lawrence Seminary for their son, but not as much time showing why our students love us. Here are a few reasons why our students say they love their experiences at SLS.
1. A Sense of Brotherhood
Students are placed in fraternities of 10-12 boys that are balanced on grade, culture and compatibility. These fraternities forge lifelong friendships. The core of the fraternity is the seniors and the freshmen they sponsor. Every freshman has a senior sponsor. Each new upperclassman has a sponsor from his own grade. Through the school year, fraternities sit together in chapel, lead prayer for the entire community, participate in liturgical ministries for mass together, and compete in social events together such as Winter Carnival and Field Day. These create friendships that last a lifetime.
2. Sports and Extracurricular Activities
No matter his interests, St. Lawrence Seminary has an activity for every boy. We pride ourselves on our athleticism and how we integrate faith into sports. All students are encouraged to participate in the interscholastic programs that are available on campus, and our sports teams accommodate all skill levels.
There are also 15 core clubs/societies at St. Lawrence Seminary, ranging from reading club to bike club. Given the dedication and involvement of our faculty and staff, there is no doubt that if a student wants to take part in a club that is not offered, he only has to ask, and that club can be created!
3. College Preparation
We know how important an education is for a young boy’s development. On average, our students are better prepared to face college compared to public school students.
At SLS, we encourage students to develop true depth of thought and understanding. Instead of just memorizing answers for a test, our students truly understand what they learn by learning how to ask critical questions and think beyond the surface.
